When a lapsed user comes back to your app after engaging with one of your paid ads, Tenjin credits that campaign for the return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How it works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Credit for a returning user moves to the retargeting campaign that brought them back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A return qualifies when the user was inactive longer than your inactivity threshold (default 7 days) and engaged with a paid ad within your attribution window, on a channel where re-engagement is enabled.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two kinds of return are attributed\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reinstall: the user deleted the app, then installed it again<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reactivation (re-open): the user kept the app and came back<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The return is credited to the retargeting campaign and counted as a Tracked Re-engagement;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a reinstall is also counted as a Tracked Reinstall.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cohort metrics for that user (retention, revenue, ROAS) start again from the day of the return.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tenjin sends the channel a re-engagement postback.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"364\" src=\"https:\/\/tenjin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-1024x364.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18663\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tenjin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-1024x364.png 1024w, https:\/\/tenjin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-300x107.png 300w, https:\/\/tenjin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-766x272.png 766w, https:\/\/tenjin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-1536x546.png 1536w, https:\/\/tenjin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-360x128.png 360w, https:\/\/tenjin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-18x6.png 18w, https:\/\/tenjin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image.png 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-warning-bg-background-color has-background wp-block-paragraph\">iOS reinstalls need user opt-in (presence of IDFA). Without it a reinstall can&#8217;t be recognized as the same device and is counted as a new install. iOS reactivations are not affected and work the same as on Android.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Supported channels<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Re-engagement is available on a growing list of channels. Contact Tenjin Customer Support to confirm the channels you plan to run retargeting on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reporting Metrics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Tracked Re-engagements<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Returns credited to a paid campaign, where the user reinstalled and reactivated (re-opened the app).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unqualified or organic returns are not counted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u5df2\u8ffd\u8e2a\u7684\u91cd\u65b0\u5b89\u88c5<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reinstalls that result in a new attribution: credited to a paid campaign, or organic when the user&#8217;s previous attribution can&#8217;t be restored.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When a reinstall doesn&#8217;t qualify for re-engagement (the user wasn&#8217;t inactive long enough, or no eligible paid ad engagement is found), the user&#8217;s previous attribution is resumed by default. Such a reinstall is not counted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A paid reinstall is also counted in Tracked Re-engagements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Impact on Your Acquisition Campaigns<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The original acquisition campaign keeps its install and everything the user did before the return.
