# Meta Setup

Tenjin is an **official Meta MMP**, enabling us to handle Attribution for Facebook, Instagram and other Meta platforms.

## Meta Integration with Tenjin: A Step-by-Step Guide

For iOS 14+ SKAdNetwork campaign setup with Tenjin, please see [this](https://tenjin.com/docs/skadnetwork-meta) page.

1. Make sure you have already added the latest Tenjin SDK (i.e. for iOS >= [1.13.0](https://github.com/tenjin/tenjin-ios-sdk/releases/tag/1.13.0), for Unity >= [1.14.0](https://github.com/tenjin/tenjin-unity-sdk/releases/tag/1.14.0))
2. Go to CONFIGURE -> [Apps](https://www.tenjin.com/dashboard/apps) tab and select your app.
3. Click **Callbacks** tab.
4. Select Meta in the Channels and Partners drop-down. Enter Meta **App ID** for your app, and click **Save**.

 ![image.png](https://tenjin.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image496.png)

1. For AEM campaigns, the Aggregated Events Measurement toggle to send opt-out events to Meta will be ON by default.

 ![image.png](https://tenjin.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image572.png)

Meta’s Aggregated Event Measurement(AEM) is a protocol that allows for measurement of web and app events from people using iOS 14.5+ and later devices. Please follow the steps [here](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/617021863580582) to check your app’s AEM eligibility. Please note that It may take a few days for your apps to become eligible, Meta needs to review the data that you enabled.

When AEM is ineligibile –

- Check to make sure AEM Toggle is enabled on Tenjin side in step 6
- Check SDK version to make sure it’s above iOS v1.13+ / Unity v1.14+
- Make sure Meta Callbacks are active and you can receive events from Facebook Events Manager.
- When you have multiple data sources for your events, please select Tenjin as the preferred data source

Please note sometimes it’s also possible to start iOS AEM campaigns even without sending a full set of event signals for eligibility, as Meta may still permit Attribution based on available data at their discretion.

## Measuring Android Meta campaigns using Android referrer method

Please ensure you complete this section to achieve more accurate measurement of your Android campaigns.

Meta passes campaign metadata through Android referrer on the first app open, which can be used for Attribution. More details are available in Meta’s official [documentation](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/app-ads/install-referrer/). In order to use referrer tracking, please follow the steps below.

1. Ensure you are using the latest Tenjin SDK and implement the [Android referrer](/docs/android-sdk#android-advertising-id-aaid-and-install-referrer). If Android referrer is implemented properly, you can see the green **received** mark in the app page. (NOTE – Please ensure to also update the manifest file in the SDK as mentioned [here](https://github.com/tenjin/tenjin-android-sdk?tab=readme-ov-file#meta-install-referrer-integration).)

 ![image.png](https://tenjin.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image30.png)

1. Next, go to the Meta developer [page](https://developers.facebook.com/), navigate to the App Settings -> Basic, and scroll down to the Android section. Copy the **Install Referrer Decryption Key**.

 ![image.png](https://tenjin.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image31.png)

1. Go to the Apps [page](https://www.tenjin.com/dashboard/apps) on the Tenjin dashboard and click **edit**. Paste the decryption key you copied in Step 2 under the **Facebook referrer decryption key** field.

 ![image.png](https://tenjin.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image32.png)

1. Go to CONFIGURE -> [Apps](https://www.tenjin.com/dashboard/apps) tab and select your app.
2. Click **Callbacks** tab.
3. Select Meta in the Channels and Partners drop-down. Enter Meta **App ID** for your app, and click **Save**.

 ![image.png](https://tenjin.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image495.png)

1. Activate **Meta Install** callback.

## How to set up Value Optimization (VO) campaigns in Meta

Please run AEO campaigns first before start running VO campaigns. [These](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/296463804090290?id=561906377587030) are the requirements for being eligible for running VO campaigns.

- In-app purchase value: Has generated at least 15 attributed optimized click-through in-app purchases with values over the last 7 days.
- In-app ad impression value: Has generated at least 15 attributed click-through in-app ad impressions with at least 2 distinct values over the last 28 days.
- The “several weeks” requirement is covered by the 28-day IAA window.

1. Go to the Tenjin Dashboard, CONFIGURE -> APPS, and select your app to set up the callback to Meta.
2. Click **Callbacks** tab.
3. Select Meta in the Channels and Partners drop-down. Enter **Meta App ID** for your app, and click **Save**.

  ![image.png](https://tenjin.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image495.png)

1. If you are optimizing on in-App purchases, Toggle ON the Meta IAP callback

  ![](https://tenjin.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-16-1024x89.png)

1. If you are optimizing on in-App Ads revenue, Toggle ON the Meta Ad Revenue callback

  ![](https://tenjin.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-17-1024x85.png)

1. This data will be sent to Meta for optimization. You can then see the event in the event manager [page](https://business.facebook.com/events_manager2/overview).
2. If you are setting up a campaign for iOS 14.5+ using SKAdNetwork Attribution, please set up SKAdNetwork configuration, by referring to our instructions [here](https://tenjin.com/docs/skadnetwork-meta/).

#### Why do I see a discrepancy between Meta Dashboard Installs and Tenjin Tracked installs?

Please note that the Reported Installs on Meta’s dashboard and the installs Tenjin tracks for Meta can differ due to variations in Attribution methodology. Meta may use modeled or aggregated data with different Attribution windows. As a result, discrepancies in reported and Tracked Install numbers are common and typically range between 30-40%.

---

#### What are the two types of Meta Ad Revenue Callbacks?

**1. Meta Ad Revenue**

Default, used for all campaign types. Sends ad revenue data to Meta’s AdImpression endpoint.

---

**2. Meta Ad Revenue (as Purchase)**

Sends ad revenue data to Meta’s Purchase endpoint. Use this endpoint only when running blended VO campaigns – i.e., when you want to send both ad revenue and IAP data to the same purchase endpoint.

---

#### Why do my Meta numbers look incomplete for dates before AMM was enabled?

1. For dates before AMM was enabled, read the app and channel level totals — those are complete.
2. A total being larger than the sum of its breakdown is expected, not a data error. Meta only lets us display part of the data at that level of detail.
3. Enabling AMM is not retroactive, but nothing is lost. Data from the day after acceptance onwards is complete, and the earlier data is still there at the aggregate level.
4. To get more detail out of a past period, please widen the date range or use fewer breakdown levels.

---

### Meta Privacy Threshold

In accordance with Meta’s privacy requirements, full campaign reporting will be available if either of the following conditions is met:

 1. The campaign meets the minimum volume threshold (**>100 unique users or > 100 tracked installs**), or
 2. Meta’s **AMM terms are accepted** (you can accept them [here](https://developers.facebook.com/advanced_mobile_measurement/terms))

If neither condition is met, reporting may be limited.

### How Meta campaigns appear in Tenjin

Campaign names are shown as `ad set name (campaign name)`. The name in brackets is the Meta campaign the ad set belongs to. In exports and Callbacks, `remote_campaign_id` is the ad set ID.
